Princess Cruises Launches New Blog For Passengers – LinkedByTheSea

Princess Cruises LogoWhen social media picked up steam,  majority of internet users believed that this new generation communication is going to kill the traditional platform – blogs. People started conveying their thoughts through 140 characters, pithy status updates and interesting photographs. But, still nothing could kill a blog-medium-of-conveying-things. In the context of travel industry, blogs play a SIGNIFICANT role.

Princess Cruises has launched a new blog by name “LinkedByTheSea” where every week the company features an interesting story from its crew members and passengers.

Princess Cruise believes that many relationships begin / foster during a cruise, many interesting things happen during sea travel. LinkedByTheSea will be a platform for fellow passengers and crew members to share their experience with the world.

The company picks the best story received and features one story each week.

Princess is not introducing or testing something new, they have been doing this successfully over the past two years. In 2011, the company launched a portal by name “50 Essential Experiences” and in 2012 they launched “Inspired To Cruise“. These two blogs captured the attention of millions of readers. These platforms acted as good lead generators for Princess.

Jan Swartz, Executive VP of Princess Cruises said,

“A cruise often includes the discovery of new friends or rekindled relationships that lead to meaningful or lifelong bonds. We frequently hear amazing stories from our passengers and crew about people they connect with at sea. These moving tales provided the perfect theme for our third blog and we know they will touch readers.”

While this launch of new portal for cruisers is good news, the one question that raises is – What more? or What next? A lot of things can be done as an extension to this new portal, and we would stop at this point here without saying more :)
