Product 360: Lifeisoutside: Book Your Weekend Getaways Near Your City
How many of us have complained that there is nothing to do nearby your city over a weekend? All of us get a weekend off, but have we seen all the places near our city? Are we bored of the malls, cinema halls, multiplexes? That’s the problem Lifeisoutside.com is trying to solve. They provide only short-break packages for 9 major cities in India. Lifeisoutside believes there are at least half a million places to see in India.Let’s discuss the website features. The homepage is pretty neat, less cluttered and organized. Travellers will be able to select the city of their choice to view the areas / places near to their city. Best feature in the homepage is the list of all places that are listed around a city. This is pretty eye-catchy and acts as a lead to move to the next page.
In the search results page, we noticed exhaustive filter parameter fields. User will be able to filter by the type of destination (Beach / Hill, etc), location, distance, budget. An unique feature in the filter parameter is the “filter by location and sub-location”. Once user selects Karnataka, the list of places in Karnataka also gets listed in the drop-down. This becomes very easy for the travellers to filter by location. Many filter parameters nicely packed in less space, good use of site real-estate.
When a user views the details of a particular resort / place, user will be able to – (listing only the notable points)
- Read review of the place. The review content is pulled from HolidayIQ, a site that’s well known in India for its vast collection of user generated reviews. TripAdvisor team, watch this.
- Gift the place of stay to his / her friends, relatives. This is a good feature to have. User will be able to generate gift coupons (in 500 rupee denomination) for their friends / relatives.
- Add the place to their wish-list
Overall – the website is easy to use, colors used are pleasing – no vibrant colors
But, the only point that can be a downside to the website is the “Offline Booking” feature, you need to submit the booking details and Lifeisoutside confirms the booking later. Now, websites are increasingly moving towards making the reservation online. The website is rich in content, good set of (actual) pictures and has useful information on the place. If they implement the online booking feature, then the gap will be bridged and the site will have a big leap!
